Tour de Forest Event Rules

  • The Tour-De-Forest follows all state and federal laws.
  • All riders must stay on route and follow all signs
  • If you need to stop along the route, pull off only as far as necessary to avoid becoming a hazard
  • Stay out of ditches and soft areas.
  • Follow the posted speed limit along the whole route.
  • When in town, stay on the designated ATV roads and follow all traffic laws.
  • Follow the flow of traffic, most loops are one way. Stay to the right.
  • Minimum safety equipment required: DOT approved Helmet (NO BICYCLE HELMETS), Goggle / Shield, Jeans, Full Shirt, and Over-ankle Boots.
  • Failure to follow these rules could lead to a fine up to or exceeding $100.00 and/or removal from the event.
  • **Double rider rules**

  • Please read carefully because there are no exceptions to these rules!
  • Passengers under 8 years old can only ride in a “Side by Side ATV” with a child safety seats, as described below.
  • Any child under 4 years of age, or weighing less than 40 lbs, or under the height of 4 foot 9 inches tall are required to use a child restraint device.
  • Any child between 4 and under 8 years of age who weighs less than 80 lbs. and/or who is under 4 foot 9 inches in height must be fastened in a vehicle seat belt system with the use of a booster seat.
  • Passengers 8 years of age and older may ride on a ATV with an approved after market seat only.
  • No one under 8 years of age shall operate an ATV.
  • Age 8 and 9 year operators are restricted to an engine size of 70cc or less.
  • Ages 8 to 15 must hold a valid safety certificate in order to participate.
  • All ATV’s must be registered in Pennsylvania or registered in a state that is recognized by Pennsylvania and hold a valid proof of liability insurance. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/atv/reciprocity.aspx
  • To register your ATV and snowmobile contact the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Snowmobile/ATV unit, PO Box 8553, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8553. You will also have an opportunity at the registration table to register your ATV. The fee is used to help maintain present trails and build new ones.
